Wear is a key factor affecting the durability of artificial hip and knee joints. Equipment for assessing the wear of friction pairs of artificial hip and knee prostheses has long been developed and successfully used by foreign manufacturers of endoprostheses. In the global practice of using total endoprostheses of human joints, research has long been conducted on joint movement modeling, selection of optimal movement models, and comparison of abrasion results on modeling devices with clinical results of evaluating the abrasion of human joints and endoprostheses in vivo
To date, there has been no such equipment in the Russian Federation, which made it difficult to assess the quality of domestic endoprostheses at the preclinical testing stage and did not allow for a comparative assessment of the quality of domestic and foreign endoprostheses supplied to the Russian market.

Testing of total hip arthroplasty GOST R ISO 14242-1-2020, GOST R ISO 14242-2-2020

This test bench provides wear tests of hip joint endoprostheses in order to assess the abrasion resistance of the friction pair (insert, ball) when used in the production of various materials, as well as for testing the technology of their production. The developed stand allows simultaneous testing of two types of hip arthroplasty. For each type, three identical abrasion assessment samples and one control loaded sample are used. The tests are carried out in a liquid medium (veal serum) in accordance with the requirements of standardsndardsGOST R ISO 14242-1-2020 and 0 and GOST R ISO 1

The wear of the friction pair is carried out by gravimetric method in accordance with GOST R ISO 14243-2-2012.

According to the test results, a test report is provided containing data on the wear of the friction pair after 0.5 million; 1.0 million; 2.0 million; 3.0 million; 4.0 million; 5.0 million abrasion cycles, as well as photographs of the surfaces of the pair
